Applicants must be able to understand swimming and aquatic safety concepts and be able to communicate them to students verbally as well as with physical demonstration.

*Under general supervision, this position will teach swimming lessons to students aged from six months to senior citizens.
* *The main duty of this position will be providing swimming instruction to the public in an organized class structure.
Class sessions are typically 30 minutes long and held between two and four times a week either in the mornings or evenings depending on the time of year.
* *Secondary duties will include tracking student progress and filling out completion cards/certificates at the end of each session, creating lesson plans, and attending periotic training sessions to improve and learn new teaching strategies.
* _*WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION*_ This position will be weekday evening during the school year, weekday mornings typically from 8am-12pm during the summer and Saturday mornings.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* _Other:_ American Red Cross certification as "Water Safety Instructor" or other specialized certification in diving, scuba diving or kayaking as appropriate.
At least 16 years of age at time of appointment.
