Community Paramedic

*COMMUNITY PARAMEDIC(2 POSITIONS)* for the City of Ketchikan Fire Department.
Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, this employee independently performs Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) programs in the community as needed.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to expanding access to non-urgent health care through in-home patient visits and community-based services and providing outreach education.
This position will work to enhance public health and safety by providing alternatives to emergency services for persons with non-emergent needs to decompress the ambulance and hospital services.
Must be capable of providing emergency medical care at the paramedic level while also assisting patients with non-emergent referrals and medical needs.
Delivers safety programs on fall prevention, alcohol and substance abuse prevention, and response.
Must have specialized training in medicine or a related field including advanced medical patient care training and three years of experience in the delivery of emergency medical patient care in a pre-hospital setting at the Paramedic level.
License as a State of Alaska Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic OR certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as a Paramedic.
Must possess an appropriate, valid driver’s license and evidence of a good driving record upon hire and completion of Community Paramedic training within one year of employment.
*Regular, full – time; $5,591.
00 - $6,488.
